Ok, so we have seen the adds about the Polar Bears coming to the Zoo since we got here, on top of all the construction that has been going on there. So, my kids have been very well aware that Polar Bears were coming to the Zoo! They have been waiting for this moment FOREVER, at least it has seemed that way! We have been planning on going to the opening since we heard about the date. However, this is why planning in advance doesn't work for us that well! Carter has been having issues with his ears and his ear infections not going away with any antibiotic and he has been miserable! So, June 1st happened to be the day he was going in to get tubes, which happened to be the same day as the Polar Bear opening!! Am I a bad Mom for asking the doctors and nurses if my sweet baby would be ok after having tubes in his ears, a minor outpatient surgery, to go to the Zoo? Well, I felt like one asking, but with hesitation in some voices, it seemed that after a few hours he should be over the grunt of the anesthesia and should be fine except he might be a little graugy. That being said, I decided we would see how he was and make the decision.
Coming out of the anesthesia he cried for about 45 minutes while at the hospital. When I finally got up to leave with him crying he fell asleep on me while I was walking to the car and slept the whole way home. We had to get up at like 5:30 to get there!! We got home and he seemed OK, so we went. I held him whenever he wanted to be held in case he wanted to fall asleep on me (something I would do anyway) but I made sure to be extra aware, and he did great! We even ran into our pediatrician while there and he said he looked like a champ! It was a long hot day, but so fun to see all the new animals!
A friend of ours and her two kids that my kids LOVE came to join us!
My kids have their routines now that we have been to the Zoo so many times! I feel bad for those who come with us because my kids are funny when we don't stick to their schedule!
Tigers!
Of course the maps of the Zoo that each of my kids has to have!
The Peacocks we see all over the zoo
The statues that my kids want a picture on every time we are there!
The Polar Bear addition!! It's here...
The seals
We only saw this monster of a seal the first day, the rest of the time it's been the smaller ones, he was so good, such a poser!
Woo-Hoo, a new statue to get a picture on!!
I ran into my cousin Tommy Jay and his family!I have run into more cousins at the Zoo here than I have seen in years, I am loving this!
The Polar Bears!
And now, Grizzly Bears!!
Seriously this is not a routine for our family, $20 bucks for ice cream cones for our family!!! Easton is my messiest child, before it was Ayden, but Easton wins the title by a long shot!! I swear I wipe him clean and minutes later filthy!!!
This was a new one for us, The Bird Show!
We saw this earlier in the day and Gavin was begging to go sit on it. But for some reason we had to pass by it, he waited patiently while asking a few times to go back, but what heaven for him when we finally did, he was so excited!!! So funny the things kids get excited about!
Worth the wait for this cute smile!
This would be a messy chip face, or maybe cookies!! =)
My tired exhausted kids after a HOT day at the Zoo!
