6 month pics!!

I can not believe we have finally made it to the 6 month mark! Every one said 6 months is the magical month, they sleep through the night, they sit up, the play with toys better....well not much has changed!! No, we are definitely seeing a difference in the way they play with toys, and they do seem to be a lot more content, a little better in the car, we switched to the bigger binkis and Gavin takes it so much better. We are definitely seeing growth, however, they are still not sleeping through the night!!! We are now trying something new. Really what they get up for at night is to eat, but then sometimes they have a hard time getting back to sleep and wake up th other one that is sleeping, it will just make life easier if they just sleep through the night. We don't want to just take their bed time bottles away cold turkey so we are going down a 1/2 oz. every couple of days. This process, like every new thing we try has been difficult, they are getting up more because they are hungry and we try to hold them off by patting their backs, which works, but only for so long. But last night, they had a really good night and I feel like the hard work is going to pay off, at least we hope! I read in a book if you water down their bottles that also works, so tonight we are working our way down to 2 1/2 oz and putting in just one scoop, it's just baby steps, but we are crossing our fingers things will only get better!

Well their 6 month check up was so good!! they are getting so big..literally BIG!

Ayden
Height: 26 1/4 in. (75%)
Weight: 17.8 lbs (40%)
Head Circumference: 17 3/4 (80%)

Gavin

Height: 27 1/4in. (80%)
Weight: 17.15 lbs (49%)
HC: 17 3/4 (80%)

It was great to see that they are now in the 80% for height, when they were born they were in the 5%!

Play time!

The boys are so cute together! You can always tell how much they love one another, they get such big happy smiles when they are next to each other, it is so cute! Here are some cute pictures of my boys playing together...

This one is so cute they were holding hands for the longest time.

Bottle Stories

Gavin is officially holding his bottle!! It was so funny, seriously, like the day after Ayden started holding his, I was feeding them (Ayden was holding his, I was holding Gavin's) and I needed to run and grab something, so I let go of Gavin's bottle and left it on him for a min, expecting him to cry, but I heard nothing! I came back a minute later and this is what I saw......

What a stinker, I am sure he has known how for a while! Ok, maybe not, but he sure did seem to catch on pretty quick!

Now Ayden is another story. He seriously cracks me up, he is a funny baby. He has found a new technique that he is determined to conquer! He is trying to eat with style! Not only that but again, he was cracking me up, while he was drinking his bottle in the next few pictures he could not keep his eye off the yellow fish. I watched as his fingers slowly starting twinkling it then slowly working up to holding onto it just before his bottle fell because he was having a hard time holding both. I would then put his bottle back in his hands only to watch him do it all over again, he was so determined!

Good bye Explorer, Hello NEW car!

Jordan said all I needed to do to get a new (probably used, but new to us) car I needed to sell our explorer. For the longest time he has said that it isn't worth anything and we should just run it to the ground, I never agreed with that and it's a good thing I didn't

Our Explorer is a '94 that we bought in 2004 from my dad and when we got it, it only had like 80,000 miles on it, not bad! Now in 2008 it still was under 100,000 miles (98,700) and in pretty good shape. It was in one accident and it was only body damage to the car that we got fixed for a pretty good price in CA. It has been a good car for us, but now with the boys it's pretty crammed, plus the longer we have it the harder it would be to sell. It is actually fine in size for us and the boys, but for instance when my mom and sister came into town and we wanted to go anywhere all together, my mom sat in the back trunk with the stroller half the time (seriously don't ask) and sharing shot gun with my sister the other half.

Anyway, Jordan should learn to watch what he says to me, I either (A) Never forget a promise he makes or (B) any time he gives me a "condition" Such as the one to sell the car then we can get a new one, or an ultamatum in a decision I try my hardest to accomplish the task so I can have my way. I would have to say he should be very afraid. I feel very confident in my ability to get things done!

So, I put the car up for sell and sold it the next day! Now we are down to one car, with no back-up. Which I should let you know another thing I told Jordan we should do and now he realizes why I am ALWAYS right (ok maybe 95% of the time). I told him we should find a car, then sell our car. No way, remember, in his eyes we couldn't sell the explorer so now we have to do with out (I am sorry let me correct myself "I" have to do with out since he takes the car to work) until we find another one!

Sorry about all the sarcasm, I just like to emphasize all the ways in which I was right! Jordan is pretty happy about what we got for the car so he is willing to admit he was wrong in all of the above ways! =) I love him! I am excited for more room in a new car!

The boys were so good. When I got t the call that someone wanted to look at it, I wasn't prepared, the oil needed to be changed and the carpets were filthy from all the salt and snow. They had one nap all day(a pretty good one in the moring, 2hrs) and missed their second one because it took forever to get the car ready to look at! They are doing pretty well compared to even a month ago, usually they are freaking out when they are tired, I must say they are growing up! =)

Food Fight!

Gavin is so full of so many different noises and sounds. He seems to imitate pretty well and for awhile would spit while trying to wiggle his tongue. However, I don't know where he learned this. It is such a pain to feed him, but the end we are covered in what ever he is eating, we can't help but laugh though!

I'm 26!!!

Wow, I can't believe I have already passed up 25, that is a quarter of the way to 100! This was a cute video of my nieces that was sent to me. These things are my favorite part of birthdays! I have a message saved on my answering machine from 3 years ago of my niece Chloe singing happy birthday to me as well. I am telling you, I can't get enough of my nieces and nephews I love them!

Milestones

Ayden and Gavin and growing so quickly. One of the many fun things about having twins is watching them grow and develop. They are two very different babies with two different personalities. Each one has different skills that they have developed, so I am hoping since they are different maybe they could teach the other what they had just learned. Ya now Ayden can pass on his strengths to Gavin and vis versa!

Ayden is a very determined little boy. Once he has his mind set on doing something he tries and tries and tries until he gets it. He has been trying for about a month to roll from his back to his stomach and finally last Friday surprisingly at the doctors office what do you know he did it!! The next day he was a rolling machine it was so cute, you could tell he felt so good about his accomplishment. He is also my little bottle baby, he is not a fan of solids. He eats really, really, slow and never eats much. Every time you put the spoon in his mouth he makes the funniest face I laugh every time the spoon goes in, he has always been one to make funny faces since birth.

have been waiting for! He has been trying for awhile, but this was the first time he consecutively held it for more than a second. He needs some coaching along the way because I think he realizes I'll do it for him, so I let go and he will try picking it up and putting it in his mouth, with a little help. He does a dang good job if you ask me, I was able to go and get Gavin's bottle and sit down with Gavin for a min, before the bottle fell. I was pretty impressed, now it's Gavin's turn. It kills me, everything Ayden does first Gavin takes his time and one day he'll just beIt's amazing how quickly they develop. Just yesterday Ayden had a few firsts. Actually lately he has been really good about opening wide and at least acting interested in his food, still making the same faces though. Yesterday he ate more than Gavin and you could tell he was enjoying it. He also hasn't been able to hold himself up quit like his brother, but let me tell you he sat up so well yesterday I was surprised at how well his was doing just by comparing him from the day before. I also bought those dissolving puffs and thought Gavin, my little food lover, would be the first to really get into those. Yesterday I thought I'd try to give them some, of course even though they are small I was breaking them into smaller pieces. They both would make these funny faces and spit them out and then I would put it back in to help them get use to it. What do you know Ayden loved them! You see, you can never feed Gavin fast enough and he lets you know. It was the same type of thing with these puffs and Ayden, it was so cute and surprising. Now for the big thing, almost all day yesterday Ayden has been for the most part HOLDING HIS BOTTLE!!! The one thing I able to do it, it's not a gradual thing he just all of a sudden does it, but the things he learns before Ayden he learns so quickly. i think he is just holding out and is able to do the things all a long.

Now with Gavin at First we thought he was going to be the needy, lad back baby, as long as he was held he was fine. And we thought Ayden was going to be the little trouble maker, outgoing, and full of adventure. However they have kind of done a swap. Ayden pretty much is content and laid back, but he wants something he has no problem letting you know. For the most part when he his fussy or crying, again, for the most part, you know there is a reason. He is quit a riot, he has the most dramatic cry/wine, you'd think every time you heard him he'd fallen and cracked his head open.

Gavin has just blossomed and the neediness is still kind of there, but different. You can set him down in his exersaucer and he just has a good 'ol time playing with his toys, very independent. He does so well at figuring things out, I watch him and it seems like he is learning more and more every day with what to do with the toys. There was a lot going on with them yesterday because again, just yesterday, I was driving in the car (which they did really well with, they are not car lovers) I hear this vibrating noise, I look back and he is pulling on the little vibrating horse thing hanging from his car seat, he's never done that before! He is ALWAYS smiling and very grabby. When we set him close to his brother he gets his big grin and holds his arms out to touch his hair, face, cheeks, hands, anything you name it. He is a big fighter to go to sleep, he always has been. For the most part he would stay up as long as you'd let him and he' d never show that he was tired, but he is actually changing his ways on that more and more, however, still a fighter about going to sleep. Just this week he has been showing such a difference in sitting up, he does so well, soon I think he will be able to do it without the boppy soon. He is so active, bouncy and full of light and energy and Ayden is so patient and loving, and lately being the one that always wants to be held. He is so funny, since he was born he has always hated it when I held both him and his brother at the same time, he likes to have his own space and a lot of the time Gavin crosses the line on that one and he gets ticked, it's funny to watch.

They are so much fun, especially as they are growing and becoming more active. I love them so much and I am so grateful for them, I couldn't imagine life going any differently. It's already fun watching their personalities develop and watching as they are starting to interact together, I know I always say I can't wait until they are a little older, but I know I'll miss this stage, eventually. This is a video of Ayden's cute little laugh, hopefully when they start laughing more we can get a better one.

Trip to Boise

All the Grandkids

It was definitely time for me to get back to Boise! The time before this I think the last time I was in Boise was Christmas of '06. I didn't know how I could travel for as long as our flight was by myself, so I asked around if anyone wanted a trip to Boise and found someone in our ward that had a daughter at Ricks so she came down with me and went and saw her daughter. It was very helpful to have the extra pair of hands. It is amazing how many people I met at the airport and came up and talked to me just because I had twins. One couple was telling me about their 2 year old grandsons who were twins and another lady was on her way to visit her daughter who just had twins. I also ran into a couple who had adopted their beautiful daughter Kai, wh o was 2, from China and they were so nice to talk to. Kai was so cute with the boys, she would make silly faces to make them smile and she got out her books to read to them, she was so dang cute with so much personality. So many people offered to hold one, I think next time I go I am sure I will have plenty of helping hands. Any where I go people are so nice to open doors for me or offer to carry in a car seat in from the parking lot as they see me trodding through the snow with heavy cars seats and 16 lbs boys. I am so grateful for how kind and how willing to help perfect strangers have been to me.

My mom was so nice to take work off while I was gone. She slept with me so she could help me out with the boys since Jordan wasn't with me. The boys have this sound machine that plays the ocean, I kept trying to convince my mom it's like being at the beach, your on vacation every day! She didn't buy that, I am confident she was happy to sleep quietly once we left.

I decided since Jordan wasn't there and I wasn't paying for two, it was ok for me to order whatever I wanted when we went out. We went to this awesome Sushi and Steak house, let me tell you the sushi was the best sushi I have ever had, it was amazing! For those of you who don't like sushi, you'll like it after you've had this! Man, that is the first place I am going when I travel back! Then I was able to go to Texas Roadhouse. We actually just got one here in Michigan, but I haven't had a chanceto go to it, and before this I haven't lived next to one since Ricks! so, I definitely had to make a trip to get those amazing rolls and cinnamon butter.

I also got a chance to see some friends while I was there. It is so hard to step out and get away from family. It seems no matter how long I come to visit, it still never seems long enough, I never get a chance to do everything I wanted to. When I do get that chance to see friends and spend time with them I always have so much fun and I am grateful for that time with them. I haven't seen Chrissy and Kristen since high school so it was so nice to see them this visit, I thought they had fallen off the face of this earth it's been so long! Becky made the best chicken fajitas and had us all over at her house, I still need to get that recipe!! Her daughter Kalaya is so dang cute and was so sweet to the boys.

My sister Nikki has made rag quilts for some of the nieces and nephews when she is able to fit it into her busy life with her five kids. This visit she taught my sister, michelle, and my mom how to make them. During the "breaks" while the boys were taking naps my mom showed me how to make them. I was so happy about that because I am a very visual person and it would have been hard to do by listening to the instructions rather then watch them, especially because I am just a beginner sower. So far I have made two, I finished the one I started in Boise here in Michigan for my sister-in-law who is expecting in May, with matching burp cloths, and I just got done with my second one for an upcoming shower. I am really excited about these, I even sowed the decorative design on the quilt, I was so proud of myself.

This was the first time my family has met Ayden and Gavin, besides Nikki and my mom who came down then they were born. My nieces and nephews were so cute with them. At one point my nephew Jacob, who's 10, moved the bouncer on one side and had the jumper on the other and had a boy in each one so he could take care of them both, it was so cute! Also, before I left my sister-in-law called and asked if we could bring the boys to my nephews class. They had been learning about Martin Luther King Jr. and how he wished that there would come a day that color wouldn't matter, and he thought it was so cool that it doesn't in our family, so he wanted to bring the boys for show and tell. How can your refuse that! It was so cute. My niece Gabby, who is 8, has also given her class a cultural lesson and told her class that her new twin cousins are part of our family even though they don't "match" us. She said families are all different and that these twins mommy was too sick so her Aunt Chandra and Uncle Jordan will take them and be their BEST Mommy and Daddy.

I am so grateful for my family, I feel their love for me everyday which means so much being so far away. They always make me feel so good when I come to visit. It was sad to leave, but also nice to get home and get the boys back on a normal schedule and not living out of a suit case. One day we'll live closer, we hope anyway!
