Detroit River Days

I was so excited when I heard about the Detroit River Days, It sounded like it would be similar to the Bosie River Festival. I have to say once we got down there Boise's River Festival with their ice cream potatoes still tops my list, I miss those days. Too bad they don't do them any more, Downtown Boise is so pretty it's nice to go down there and just walk around, I really appreciate Boise the more I am away.

Either way, it was still fun and nice to get out and do some thing different for a nice change of pace. The boys got some cute little hummer cars that they were passing out and Jordan and I got some sexy lips we wanted to show off! It was a great day to go downtown until the sudden thunder and storm hit which ended our day a little early.

Jordan's First Father's Day!

Us matching in our plaid

This was Jordan's first Fathers Day, so hopefully it was a good one. The boys and I decided to make Jordan a good breakfast with the Kitchen Aide he got me for Mothers Day, so they helped me make ableskievers, one of our favorite breakfasts. For his gift I got him a watch, ok, not very creative, but he needed a nice one.

We have waited a long time to be able to celebrate these special days so they really mean a lot. Jordan is a great Dad to our boys, he tries so hard to make time with his busy schedule and misses them so much when he has to stay late at work, study late, or just being in class late (those days he doesn't even get to see them because they are in bed when he comes home) he loves them so much and we will all be so excited when he is done with school! Every time he comes home the boys are so excited to see him, Ayden leans over toward him as if he is trying to crawl to him and Gavin gets his big grin on his face. Here are some cute pictures with Jordan and the boys...

New Milestones

Always Holding hands

This was so cute Ayden was just laying into Gavin.

The boys Florida Shirts

The boys are officially 9 months and they have come along way in their milestones and again, they are growing and developing so differently. Ayden is a little butter ball and has always been an inch shorter than Gavin! Gavin seems so long ans definitely not as chunky as Ayden, but it seems like the differences out weigh each other and they seem to way the same, we'll know more accurately at their 9 month appointment. Gavin can now crawl, clap, he has recently started lifting himself up on the easier things and he just started today doing this new little scrunchy face, we are trying to get a picture of it. Little Ayden is trying so hard to crawl, he just can't figure out those dang hands, he gets so frustrated, but he sure can scoot, he bounces his little bum then throws himself towards a toy, he can also turn himself to reach the toys around him. He isn't as interested as getting around as he is being held, he enjoys being the observer and laughing at his brother as he sits on the side lines with his parents. He kills me sometimes, when we try to put him down to play with toys he stiffens his legs so they won't bend while he tries to turn his body back into the person holding him, all he needs is love! We are also seeing a lot more of his little tongue these days, he has found that he likes blowing his lips together and spitting his little tongue outside of his mouth, especially while he is eating.

We got their 9 month pictures and once again Ayden was a little ham and smiled the whole way through, except when they were making him stand, that kind of threw him off. Gavin once again just stared at the photographer with this blank stare of "who are you and why do you think you can make me laugh", but we did manage to get a smile or two out of him. It's funny because they both have there moments and there are always people that see them and go "oh he's the smiley one and he's the serious one" and it is never about the same one. Some days Ayden can be very serious and some days he is very silly, it also depends on the time of day. The same goes for Gavin. Always when getting his picture taken he has a blank stare, and some times he does the same thing for other people he doesn't know, but he has the biggest smile and for the most part he likes to show it off, so really, there is not one or the other who is more serious or smiley than they other, they just pick and chose their moments.

The other day we were trying out the walker and it was so cute. Gavin stands up by it and as it moves he gets the scared look on his face and starts to cry. The cutest thing was Ayden was sitting on my lap (being the observer ) and started cracking up at Gavin, which gave Gavin some confidence and got this big smile on his face was slowly getting the hang of it. Ayden on the other hand was not quit ready, I had Gavin in my lap the camera in one hand with the other hand trying to steady Ayden and the walker from moving to quickly....you'll see him in the video it's quit funny.

Here are some clips (1 & 2) are Gavin moving with the walker (3) Ayden's attempts at the walker and the rest are a few clips of the boys in action ..Gavin crawling and Ayden working his calves!

We also just recently got a jogging stroller so I could go jogging with them in the mornings (Thanks for the idea Carrie) I don't know what was wrong with me, but I just couldn't put two and two together. I was trying to figure out how to work out when they were asleep, but then if I did that it would be hard to find time to just to get ready for the day, anyways now I can just go jogging with them. I think they enjoy being next to each other, here is a cute picture of the boys in their new stroller.

Swimming

It has become warmer here in Michigan, but also rainy! so on those warmer days, we got a little pool for the boys to swim in. They were so cute the first time they went in. The water was low enough so once Gavin got comfortable he'd crawl around and Ayden isn't as mobile so when he'd take a dive for a toy he would go flat on his belly and dunk his face, we are working on his crawling skills. It was so fun to see their different personalities, they were just so apparent as they sat in the pool. Ayden found a nice comfortable spot lounging over the side of the pool picking grass while Gavin is in the background splashing water and playing with toys. They have also been laughing at each other a lot lately and we got it on tape while in the pool.

Sweet Moments

Our morning routine is pretty much the same, The boys get up on average between 6 and 6:30, lately they feel 5:30 is a better time to get up. They switch, it's never the same, one will get up arounnd 5:30 the other will get up at 7:00 (or I have to wake them up). Being the morning person I am not, I put them in there exer-saucers so they can watch Baby Einstein while I lay down on the couch hoping they will be content, which usually they are for about 5-15 min. I then put some toys on the ground and let them play while I continually go back and forth between the couch and the floor either trying to separate them because Ayden is crying because Gavin has stolen his binki, or the best one, Gavin is on top of Ayden (he has toppled him to the floor) and Gavin has the biggest smile on his face every time, or for the most common one, they just want me on the floor with them. Even more recently they have become so needy, I can't pass by Ayden with out him tossing himself to either catch me as I walk by or lunge as far as he can to get to me while I am sitting by them. He stiffens up and won't bend his legs if I try to sit him on the floor making it apparent he doesn't want me to set him down. Gavin sees this and realizes Ayden is getting all the attention and then lunges himself over to me (even if it is on top of all the toys). So I have them both in my lap, I realized I might as well make myself comfortable, so it has actually been very cute I pick them both up walk to the rocking chair and the last few days Gavin turns to me and gives me a giant bear hug and does not let go, just sits like that, while Ayden turns himself around so he is facing me and holds on tight too while I sing songs to them. They are very wiggly boys and really don't just sit like that, which is one of the things that made it even cuter, it's moments like that which make raising twins feel so much easier.

The boys are growing more and more every day and just when I think my sweet boys can't get any cuter moments later they already are. Gavin is moving or scooting around so well, he is a mobile machine. He has also finally decided he likes his sippy cup. Ayden is babbling more and more each day and when he tries to crawl and plows his head into the ground, but he's trying! They have both been doing really well with eating different foods. Ayden is such a little binki baby, he loves it! If I leave his binki next to him on the high chair he has to put it into his mouth after each bite. Ayden is such a little mess when he eats as well, Gavin is much cleaner, he opens up nice and wide. A few days ago they had their first meal from Mcdonalds. My sister-in-law and I went to the outlets and she suggested I give them a fry and it was all down hill from there. I then let them try a chicken nugget and they shared almost an entire cheese burger. So much for starting good habits while their young!
